Welcome to my new website

Welcome to iainbroome.com, previously Write for Your Life. If you read regularly or listen to the podcast (which is keeping the Write for Your Life name), then you’ll know I’ve been planning to change things around here for a little while.
With the ebook version of A is for Angelica coming out on 1 August (soon!), it kind of makes sense for my biggest, baddest place on the internet to go by my actual name. I asked all of the major search engines and they agree.

All change?

While I have made some small but significant changes, a lot of what you know from Write for Your Life remains the same. I still plan to write articles, record videos and co-host the weekly podcast as part of the 70Decibels network.

None of that is changing and, in fact, I expect to post more often and more consistently. I have a book to promote and plenty more thoughts to share with my fellow writers, readers and publishing types. I expect the topics I cover here to become more diverse and reflect where I’m at with my own work, but I always hope to be useful and, at the very least, relatively interesting.

So although this is now iainbroome.com, it doesn’t mean that the site is to become one big, fat promotion for me and Angelica, even though you should definitely buy it. This is a site for writers and other creative folk who want to hear from someone who is being there and doing it.

On a practical note, I’ve decided to stop publishing link posts. I’ve also been back through the archive and done some pruning. I’ll explain more in a separate post coming later this week. Keep your eyes peeled.

Double trouble

You may have been wondering why it’s taken me so long to update the site. Well, for those of you who don’t yet know, me and my wife, Suzy, are expecting identical twins. Identical twins! Identical! Twins!

It’s completely ridiculous and absolutely amazing. With final edits on my novel and two little Broomes to prepare for, updating the website has taken a back seat. But it’s here now and I’m ready to rock.

I should say here that those wonderful people who signed up to my very special mailing list have known about the twins for a while. If you’re not signed up yet, you can do so now and gain access to new and exciting information before anyone else.

It’s like a small-to-medium sized club for really cool and attractive people. You should be in it.

A is for Angelica (the trailer)

If you plan to click around and have a look at the new site, you’d do well to start with the special page for A is for Angelica, which features a short video trailer that I’ve put together. Have a watch and feel free to tell all of your friends (online and off) about the novel.

Getting published is one thing but selling enough copies of a book to turn it into a career is a different set of knives and forks. I’ll be doing my best, but I’m going to need your help. Buy, share, review, tweet, like, or whatever takes your fancy. I’ll be extremely grateful.

No doubt, I’ll be writing about my experience promoting the novel over the coming months. What with twins on the way, I’m sure it will all be a walk in the park. Ahem. Hmm.

Finally, if you’re new here and feel all giddy at the prospect of free writing advice and suchlike, you can subscribe for free and get regular updates, either via the RSS feed or by getting emails when I post something new. And don’t forget, you’re always very welcome to get in touch, whether it’s to ask a question, tell me I’m brilliant or simply say hello.
